Our Vision and Operating Principles
Alabama Junior Disc Golf Championships (AJDGC)
Event Vision

The Alabama Junior Disc Golf Championships (AJDGC) was created to grow junior disc golf across the state by providing an affordable, welcoming, and high‑quality competitive experience for youth players and their families. The event is designed to rotate annually to different regions of Alabama, showcasing a variety of courses, engaging local clubs, and expanding access for junior players statewide.

Rotating Host Model
AJDGC is intended to move to a new host location each year. This approach:
-
Highlights different Alabama courses and communities
-
Reduces long‑distance travel barriers for families
-
Allows local disc golf clubs to bring their own creativity and regional character to the event, including course layouts and side activities
Accessibility & Cost Philosophy
A core principle of AJDGC is affordability.
-
Entry fees should remain low, preferably $25 or less
-
Cost should never be a barrier preventing a junior player from participating
-
Sponsorships and fundraising are encouraged to offset costs while preserving low entry fees
Player Pack Standards
Player packs are a defining feature of AJDGC and should provide exceptional value.
-
Player pack retail value should be at least 150% of the net entry fee
-
A target of 200% of the net entry fee is strongly encouraged when possible
-
Player packs should prioritize useful, fun, and age‑appropriate disc golf items
Course & Competition Structure
Host courses should be capable of supporting multiple divisions and skill levels.
-
Courses should offer 3–4 layouts to accommodate all age groups
-
Layouts should be designed with safety, fairness, and age‑appropriate challenge in mind
Rounds & Divisions

-
Players under 15 typically compete in one round
-
Older divisions (MJ15, MJ18, FJ15, FJ18) may compete in two rounds
-
Scheduling should minimize downtime and maintain an enjoyable pace for all participants
Player Experience & Activities
AJDGC is more than just a tournament—it is a full junior disc golf experience.
-
Lunch should be provided for participants
-
Additional activities are expected, such as:
-
Ring of fire
-
Putting games
-
Skills competitions
-
-
Activities should be scheduled between rounds or during the second round so younger players remain engaged
Overall Goal

AJDGC exists to celebrate junior disc golf in Alabama by combining affordability, value, competition, and fun. The event should leave players excited to return, families feeling welcomed, and local clubs proud to have hosted a meaningful championship that helps grow the next generation of disc golfers.
